   Alexandria shipyard was established in 1962 inside the free zone of Alexandria port .
ASY is a pioneer in shipbuilding , ship repair and heavy industries in Egypt and the Middle East .
The total yard's land area is about 400,000 m2 with total quays length of 1200 m .
Currently, the company is affiliated to the Marine industries & Services organization owned by the Egyptian Ministry of Defense The company enjoys a unique position in the Arab region where it has built most commercial ships belonging to the Egyptian fleet. It has achieved success in other areas as well, including the construction of the largest ship ever built in Egypt with a capacity of 38,500 tons, and the completion of the only oil rig built to date in Egypt.
Located in the north of Egypt on the southern shores of the Mediterranean, the company has a long history going back nearly 100 years. It was altered and expanded In the 1960s and is now the largest shipbuilding and ship repairing enterprise in Egypt A development procedure were carried out resulted in introducing in what is consider to be resurrection of the shipyard during the period from 2010-2015 huge new block assembly & welding workshop ,new huge well-equipped piping shop, expanding& redesigning of paint shop ,expanding of southern berth and the flat area next to the southern berth and the installation of 300 tons overhead gantry crane to provide the necessary lifting capacity to the southern berth & flat area The main objective was to increase the production of the shipyard from 4,000 tons to 40,000 tons a year , which is currently the normal production rate
